Fish and mussel specialties festival was held in Kavarna
The already traditional Fish and Mussel Specialties Festival was held for the fifth consecutive time in Kavarna from 5 to 7th September. The event was offcially opened by the mayor of Kavarna – Mr. Tzonko Tzonev, who demonstrated his culinary skills show cooking grilled turbot. His main competitors in the festival were the mayors of Kyustendil and Dryanovo.
During these three days all residents and guests of Kavarna were invited to taste the various fish and mussel specialties, which are part of the traditional cuisine of the Nothern Black Sea coast and Dobruzha region. The meals were offered in specially designated pavilions put up in the centre of the town. The abundant choice of delicacies was provided by the four mussel plantations in the vicinity of Kavarna, which have delivered tons of their production especially for the event.
A well suited company for the delicious meals, besides the excellent white wines, were the various entertainments especially arranged by the municipality. Popular performers such as Slavi Trifonov and his “Ku-ku” band, the world-famous choir “Bulgarian Voices Mystery” and the folk singer Valya Balkanska kept the spirits high during the festival.
The municipality of Kavarna traditionally offers to its visitors an outstanding cultural experience throughout the year and it is the lead organizer of major musical events and happening such as July Morning Festival, Kaliakra Rock Festival, Sea celebration week, Fish and Mussel specialty festistival, etc.
